As is usual, two days & nothing! But that is the way!
Then early morning we could hear her calls, we sat & enjoyed the sound never expecting to see her. Then there she was coming towards us, still calling.
We lost her in the terrain!
Wonders of wonders trying to locate her again, a male! We know she had only recently sent her adult cubs away ready for her to mate again. They were still in the area & had been seen together.
Was this male one of the cubs?
Finaly after checking for scent she cooled off before disappearing back into the forest.

  • is this strictly a mating call? i saw a tiger do this at the zoo with her two cubs, but i wasn't sure if it was because of the cubs or the people

  • @MrCenterofgravity

    Thank you for your comment.

The female in this video has recently left her adult cubs (Juvenile Tiger Cubs Still bonded to Siblings) She has now become receptive to mating & is calling & leaving scent marks around her area.

I believe it is also common to scent mark as an indication to say (I'm not available) as could be the case with cubs. Fathers do visit their cubs & spend short periods with the female.

  • I'm not so sure about the male Tiger being her son, now.

We know she had three cubs one male two females. (Two of the cubs are featured in my next video, I couldn't get any good shots of the third who was laying deep in the bush)

The male in this video is not the male cub in the other video. He was less than a kilometre from the calling female.

    Why did he not react?

  • Wow, what an absolute privilege to be in the presence of such a magnificent animal.

  • Despite the very "unsual" route system Ranthambore is still very good for tiger sightings....

    The calling is wonderful!

We watched 2 tiger cubs - sub-adult - in Ranthambore in June 2009...........enjoyed it tremedously.

    Great footage Kipper!
