The Age of Empires series, the Total War series, Company of Heroes, the Rise of Nations series, the Total Annihilation series, Empire Earth, the Stronghold series, and much of the Command & Conquer series would say otherwise. I don't get to play many RTS's thanks to the genre's general unpopularity among the masses generating little desire for companies to make them.
oh sir you are very wrong. There is so much strategy. First off you must create good defences and a good economy. Then you can make strategic moves like attacking there mines or doing hit and runs. and much much more.
The "economy" in BFME2 consists of building lots of farms (or the equivalent for your choice of army).
There's little in the way of strategic depth. Each unit counters another, and it's simple to focus entirely on the battles. It's basically a "newbie's RTS," which isn't a bad thing, but it also makes the game a bit too simple for my liking.
Well, it's basically the same as the original, so it's up to you to decide whether it's worth getting or not. General consensus among reviewers was that BFME2 was better, but I figure they're about the same.
