Right, all these flyback driver clips proove I'm a high voltage addict.
The driver is powered by a 12V 5A PSU. The MOSFETs are IRFP260. The flyback transformer is from an old B/W TV set made in the 60s

  • It's a WIMA 0,68 uF/250V. It gets warm after a few minutes. I haven't burnt any capacitors with this driver.

  • arc length was 4 cm max, with crap capacitors it's only 1cm :-(

  • what capacitor did you use? i built a zvs driver - IRF540N mosfets, IHVT transformer from old color TV (added 2 coils = 5 and 5 turns). Very nice arcs.... It runs at 20V and 1 - 3A (3A when the spark reaches it's maximal length) - but I burned lots of capacitors... the shittest capacitor I tried was 100V/220n, the best I tried was 630V/820n - it worked but the primary winding heated like a crap...

    Sorry for my bad english.....
