@125riptide You're partially right about that but it's not just that! Because he's so diesel, he CAN use it to set up the TD (and get it) but the "act" is what I'm referring to. When he gestures to the ref with verbal and nonverbal communication, he's using deception because he wants the ref to think that the bottom guy is purposely not moving; however, that much pressure against that part of his head restricts the bottom guy's movement, thus, Schwab is stalling but just for a few seconds.
@SoberAllmanBrosFan schwab wasn't "holding" betz's head down, he was just keeping his hands on him at all times, keeping the pressure on him, setting up his next takedown
@125riptide A referee coworker of mine showed me the value of this technique. I wrestle club (lame, i know) but there's some talent in club...some. The MIT club team uses this technique or should I say, stall! Schwab is the one stalling at 8:15. It's a deceptive stall but he could afford it. The MIT guys, the good ones, will hold their opponent's head down when the coach yells, "Iowa!" and then when the bottom guy can't do anything because he's being held down, he yells, "he's stalling, ref!"
Lol Schwab really doesn't like him.
