Vulcan, a New Yorker artist, who now lives in San Francisco and together with other San Francisco artists, has been getting the support of Terdeloin & South of Market merchants to give artists permission to create beautiful murals to be displayed at the walls of their establishments. Usually displayed in streets and alleys, where the increase of homeless and drug related activities became quiet visible. These neglected area of the city are now attracting tourists and visual artists and somehow bringing awareness to social issues and the need of improvement.
Vulcan works can be seen at Turk Street & Mason Street and other city neighborhoods or at google.com. Some of his murals are abstract, other collaborated works express a political or social statement but in general the intention is to transform the visual aspect of the place and bring passers-by and residents to appreciate & reflect about the condition some have to live in San Francisco.
Due to law & regulations, spray painting can be considered a vandalism act, if one does it in public places or even abandoned properties without a permit.
