This is a great song, I listen to it on my ipod when I'm walking and it's just a blast to listen to.

This song is amazing! I karaoke to it in my car on repeat and it drives my girlfriend crazy. Once is never enough! Even if it is 11 something mins long.

this is one of my favourite Dylan songs. It's awesome as it is. Best lyrics ever.

Woooo, I most of all love that line
"Now I know she ain't you but she's here and she's got that dark rhythm in her soul."
It's chicken skin stuff, ain't it?

Dylan knew what the song needed. the original is incomplete. Ira just feels left out because his lead got submerged a bit, but the final version is a masterpiece. i've been playing guitar for 50 years. so, sour grapes.

OK. Somebody gave me a copy of the "clean version". It's fine. I like the song either way...but personally I think that version on Knocked Out Loaded is more interesting. It's much more eccentric. Haven't heard anything like the background singers since the Shangri-Las and the echo is like something out of a dream.

Send me a message, I can hook you up with the original "New Danville Girl" version of the song if you're interested.

This one is in my top 5 all time Dylan. Incredible song really.

IF he's got the clean mix then let's hear it! BUT....what's not ledgable about the final cut of BROWNSVILLEGIRL? An iconic song! His statement does show Dylan's genius writing abilities.

This is one of the few Dylan songs where I think that Dylan didn't record the definitive version. Meaning to say, somebody could plausibly do a better version. So why haven't they?

I think you're referring to Ira Ingber, one of the guitarists. Pretty cool guy, actually.
