Minsk, Belarus. What's in a name? October Revolution Square, Karl Marx Boulevard? Lenin Street? There's no missing the Soviet era influence. Belarus is still snugly geared to its powerful neighbour Russia, politically and militarily. Its economy depends on this. It relies on Russia for its energy. With the umbilical relationship comes a cost. Dissident artist Ales MARAČKIN often toys with Moscow-Minsk ambiguities. He feels it's high time his country cut the cord. He shows us his rendering of a photo taken during elections in the 1950s.

Why isnt there any angryness between EU nations???? Because they do not say: YOU MUST DO THAT YOU MUST DO THAT.... EU says: WE advice you to do that, or to do this, but it is your choise what to do...... Russia says: if you do not do this, or do that, we will cut GAS..... Or we will do the same we did to Georgia......

As a European taxpayer who helps to finance the over-paid and un-elected commission....I would like to ask two simple questions.
1. Why is a man who boils alive his political opponents allowed to take part in EU `talks ´? I refer to Belarus´ president Alexander Lukashenko.
2.Why is the commission so keen to see Croatia join the EU ?
To quote Croatian journalist Goran Flauder ´ We like to say where Italy is a state with a Mafia,Croatia is a Mafia with a state ´.

That would be great. With all the former soviet republics seeking closer ties with the EU, Russia will too have to open up, which in the end will be great for both eu and Russia
