First test of our new GP 2 FIA Sunbeam Imp Sport. This car is a replica of the famous George Bevan / Bill McGovern BTCC-winning Imp of the 70s. The track is Rudskogen, the race is a round in the Norwegian Championship for Historic Racing incorporating classes from 1961-76, from a 1000cc Opel Kadett to a 76 Broadspeed Capri. The gearbox is a spare, with totally wrong ratios, so it wasn't exactly a bullet out of some of the corners - but will be remedied for the next race.

  • What a fantastic sounding engine!!! After you got past that green piece of shit at approx 6.00 the little car really started to go lol.......what cam have you got in her?, sounds like an R23 or Frazer B. Great video, thanks for posting, takes me back to 35 years ago, although I never escaped from Imps, I'm currently restoring one!!

    Thanks again.

  • @normken Thanks :) Check the other Imp videos for sound with proper gear ratios! The cam is a Reg Patten selection, I'll have to check with the car owner on that one.

Imps are addictive indeed, can't wait to get the car tested & ready for this season!

  • Typical full race imp engine @1:35 lol :)

The engine note sounds exactly like my dads old 1040cc davrian, i really miss that car:( , it went round corners like nothing else

  • @TheRCracer87 hehe indeed! Drop the hammer with less than 5000rpm and it stops :) Davrians are superb. It's a real shame we can't get them on plates here, otherwise I'd own at least one.

  • that engine sounds so sweet and crisp, what tires are you allowed to run on?

  • @TheRCracer87 yes the sound is why I made the conversion from Minis :) Road legal tires only for period G cars, with some specifications on profile etc. We've tried Yoko 048 and Avon ACB10s, but still early days. Hopefully we'll get to do an early spring test session and try both Kuhmos and Michelins.
