Realy? actualy Bad Religion inspired my free thinking and intellectualism as well ass they had kick ass music I could skate to!! It's not so mutch the music, it's the lyrical message! A band could only be about the music and shure as hell sell out like fall out boy, green day, and blink 182!! Bad Religion had goon music as well as a good message, greg the lead singer used his evolutianary biology and ecoprprated it into his songs!
The Pistols The ruts The clash - The Damned, Siouxsie and banshees and a host of others actually do sound fantastic today.. Punk was more poignant because it had a social political content and that made it very important.. -but in truth the music was'nt noise at all..Most often, the music was absolutely fantastic.

Punk was a social movement, not really a music genre.
