I don't understand. The mom is acting like being with her children is a burden that will interfere with her obsessive cleaning and not having a job..

Yes i do tip my hat to all the parents who have to deal with a special needs child. You parents are brave , very strong , strong love , and alot of patience. You parents do deserve more help with dealing with it , because life has enough bs already to deal with , and just having the stresses of keeping the roof over your heads , on top of all of that a special needs child , that needs consistant supervision . Super parents ! the ones who put up with it , you deserve lots of thanks.

@JenGem It CAN be a very severe disability/disorder. Autism is a very heterogeneous disorder - some individuals with Autism are completely non-verbal, low IQ and show little social skills and intense repetitive behaviors. Others are savants who are merely socially aloof. I understand your concern, but it can be a "horrible" problem for both the individual and for the parents. (But I agree these parents are far from ideal). You are right that treating them as odd is not helpful.

@kimmois1 Very mature! Name calling? My grandson lives with me. I suspected something was up with him. I took him to the doctor and he pointed me where to start. He is now in programs and is progressing well. This mother was letting her son go ignored (running out in the street?). They KNEW he was autistic and did NOTHING about it until this nanny came along. As for you? Grow up! Name calling? Didn't your parents teach you manners?

@kamoopsipooh Fuck you you fucking cunt. It's one thing reading a book another having a child with autism you fucking child rapist cunt. Many doctors who aren't specialists don't fucking know what to do. If it was that easy you fucking cunt, there wouldn't be the stigma and problems surrounding this issue. May you and your shit kicking incest riddled cunt sucking family rot in hell for eternity.
-
@abab123x They're excellent parents as they acknowledge they have major problems, want to do right by their kids and are taking steps to rectify it. You however are a fucking worthless judgemental cunt a sack of shit and I hope you die screaming in agony before rotting in hell for eternity you fucking donkey raping shit eating cunt.

I dont't mean to be mean but they really are not the best parents. I know it is hard having a special needs child but you have to work with them and not ignore them.
-
@nambrie she does. she has a degree with special needs kids

@ambermdonnelly I understand your point, however, Jo was right to judge SOME of it, because a lot of the things the kids were doing CLEARLY weren't right for the child. Did you see them at the supper table in part one? The whole family sitting on one side of the table in a group and chatting while Tristan sat alone? And when the dad said "Should I sit with him for a bit?" mum just said "why?"
I wish that people would not act like being autistic was a horrible problem. It's a day to day thing that some kids have- just as simple as one kid being shy or another with anger issues. Treating them like they are odd will never help. I understand it's hard- but teat kids like humans for crying out loud!!!

Supernanny did a great speech.
What I love is that these parents were honest. I also noticed that husband took his wife's hand as she got nervous & that brought me a lot of hope for them.
There's a real man.
Anyone can make mistakes & give up, but it takes a man to say, "There's no excuse" good for him. I loved those words prior to taking her hand. That's a man to fess up quickly when truth comes out. "I have no idea what to do," "breaks my heart," & "I'm ashamed." There's power.
