This is just a little video about me and being a congenital amputee. Feel free to ask me questions :)

  • Hi, this might be a stupid quesion, but can you do your own hair? It must be really hard to make a ponytail or braid your own hair with just one arm. I'd love to see how you do it. Anyway you are a real inspiration.

  • @MarieLaVieEnRose Hi :) I can do my own hair but there are some limitations. Up until I left for college my mom actually put my hair up for me. I've taught myself different ways to do my hair though in the past few years. I plan on making a video eventually with different hairstyles that work for me. Thanks :)

  • is it hard being an amputee? i'm sorry, are you born that way?

  • @andriananina I'm a congenital amputee, so yes I was born this way. Since I've been this way my whole life I don't think it's that difficult. I just use my body they way God gave it to me. I feel very blessed to have the gift of life and I believe I am the way I am for a reason.

  • Dani, You are such a cutie & seem very sweet & are OK with what life has dealt you. Our Granddaughter is also a congenital amputee and only has a 4 inch stub below her right arem, like yours except she doesn't have any fingers, never did! he just turned 8 y/o this month. She has been fitted with several prosthetics since she was 3 y/o but doesn't like them, as they "get in the way of her life" (her words!) She is active, happy & very well adjusted. The love of our lives! Thank you for sharing!

  • @UnIndio I think that everyone has certain things in their lives they must overcome. I honestly have not always been okay with it but as I matured it became easier. It makes me so happy for you to share about your granddaughter. I think sports are great for everyone. Teams give you a place to belong. I know for me team sports gave me responsibility and more confidence. I 100% agree, prosthetics never worked really well with my lifestyle either.

  • @RazzleDaniDazzle Your a SWEET Girl! Don't let the Moron's get you down, your better than them! Ah, don't worry I'm too old, but I'm an amputee as well.

  • What a beautiful spirit you have. And the eyes are off the chart too... they are the window to the spirit

  • @finetooner I used a prosthesis when I was younger (up to 4th or 5th grade), I felt like it was more annoying than helpful. I think in this day and age it's difficult to avoid being bullied. I think I'm in a place now though where most things don't bother me anymore. I am who I am, I'm not perfect but neither is anyone else. I actually co-produced an anti-bullying documentary a few years ago. I'm very blessed to have the life I have, it could always be worse.

  • You are 20? You look quite young! Have you ever had a prosthesis? Your residual left arm appears to be quite tactile. One of my friends has the exact same congenital missing left forearm and he has never used a prosthesis. Thanks for sharing with us. I hope you have grown up without being teased or made fun of over something you had absolutely no control over.
