thanks man. I've always wanted to learn this tune and I think I've got it now. But are you sure that third string is in D and not C#? I'm playing it through in a standard A tuning nad it sounds just like your banjo here.

i've always played it out of sawmill because my band performs it it in medley with shakin down the acorns and frosty morning but i know plenty of folks who play it out of standard A and i probably should learn it that way.
