A real rarity here. Two great Turandots in duet as Eva Turner marks, still with considerable power, while Amy Shuard sings the first part of In questa reggia and Messiah..
Eva Turner coached Amy Shuard for a number of years, so it's good to have this tantalisingly short example of their work together.
A thought: Eva Turner, Amy Shuard, Pauline Tinsley, Gwyneth Jones.... For a small country Britain has produced a remarkable number of great Turandots.
I have just finished Gray's excellent book. A biography of Turner was LONG overdue and as well as being meticulously researched, it very much benefits from being written by someone who has the singer's perspective and who knew the subject personally.

Apparantly there is a recording of the farewell somwhere out there. Have you read Linda Esther Grays book about Eva?

@MCHEATH, I don't know if her final Turandots in 1948 or 49 were recorded, or if you mean a speech, but I'm afraid I don't have either. Check out the amazing things she sang at the Proms - Isolde's Act 1 Narration, The love duet, the Liebestod, Siegfried, Immolation, Abscheulicher, Ecco l'orrido campo.... and none of them seem to have been recorded. Tragic!
