Fenderstratguy and WastedBasho(first let me say up front,I mean these remarks in the nicest possable way) how old are you pups? I'll be 65 my next.My boys and I caught there shows 5 or 6 times, covered all there work.Strat is spot on about the poetic's (I write a bit myself) and the metaphor. But you'r dead wrong about the plane france and england togeather built the Concord,80 -90 seats new york to london bout an hour 1400 mph mach 2,I want to say when nixon was in,was kissengers fav,$2500 a seat
@fenderstratguy I think it's just a beautiful expression meant to bring out the euphony of words, in so-called alliteration, where poetic words repeat the same consonants, so you get _t_ravelin' _t_wice the _s_peed of _s_ound... with the alliterating t's and s's. It's a metaphor of living the fast life of concert performances, and how that life and its expediencies destroy your domestic relationships, which is ultimately what gives meaning to our lives. That's what "getting burned" is about.
strange and disturbing story dude. Read 'inside laurel canyon' on davesweb.cnchost.com/nwsltr93.html by Dave McGowan or listen to /watch?v=hRc6FRBxpUY
John Todd, a big cahuna of zodiac productions and a very very close friend of David Crosby spills the beans.
This is my conclusion, but feel free to think otherwise. Peace!
saw them twice...thank god.

Where does the phrase "trav'lin' twice the speed of sound" come from? It can't refer to the aircraft he was to fly on.

These guys were knights in shining armour long before my hero Nash got his OBE. A favorite CSN song of mine and always good to see.
