Starday 248. The late R. D. Hendon - he committed suicide in 1956 - was not much of musician or singer himself. He bascially acted as a band leader and employed a variety of good singers and musicians in Texas including Charlie Harris, Eddie Noack, Harold Sharp, Gig Sparks, Jack Rodgers, Bill Taylor and several others. The typical instruments used for this honky tonk and country boogie sound were fiddle, steel guitar, guitar, drums. A trumpet and a clarinet were only used on one track each. They recorded for Freedom, Four Star, Shamrock, Blue Ribbon and Starday.
