@captainbly200 To answer your question, NJT uses the catenary to get into Penn Station. The third rail is for Long Island Railroad, which often uses the same tracks.

@malikrthr1 the port jervis line leaves from hoboken its nj transit but is contracted with metro north.the metro north cars with the genesis engines leaves grand central station along with m7's,8's and other train consists

I didn`t know that NJT and amtrak goes to penn station. I only knew that that lirr goes there.

i always wondered why the comet v does not go into penn station. I think some of the metro north comet v that are on the port jervis line should be pushed and pulled by the genesis. If you think of it, they are like updated shoreliners.

i know this might sound stupid but i need to ask but im seeing 3rd rail next to the track and catenary above so wich power does NJT use to get into Penn Station?
