'Yellow (was in trouble)' - animation by Karlee Morse, words belong to Ken Nordine.
ARTIST'S STATEMENT: The line, 'Yellow was in trouble' was my inspiration in creating this 'backwards' narrative, based upon 'Yellow' by Ken Nordine - which remains relevant today because there are some listeners out there who actually enjoy spoken-word jazz, and the subject for his album 'Colours' remains universal and 'inspirational' to colour enthusiasts/appreciators.
My focus was to create an animation that challenges the viewer's perception of what they hear - one that does not follow this literal telling in Nordine's poem, of yellow and its interactions with an understanding blue and a jealous green. It focuses on yellows struggle against an aggressive blue; yellow is personified as a victim and the viewer witnesses as I propose that 'if blue and yellow were to get together, they could make their own green'. Thus some changes were made, such as the end of the sound clip being removed, as my narrative doesn't resolve on a positive note.
@jschnei3 i thought the same thing, but if you watch it enough times it could make some sort of sense. think of green as an inanimate subject and blue unintentionally making green.

Why is is your blue guy attacking your yellow guy? Green is supposed to bully yellow, and then blue protects him. I think you got it wrong!

How is it that you could listen to this piece and come up with something violent? Makes no sense to me.
