This is an awesome video showing the incredible work high power line maintenance crews do on a daily basis to maintain our electrical grids... I've been asked many times where this came from, it's an excerpt from an IMAX production called "Straight Up: Helicopters in Action", I've included a link to the movie on IMBD:

    That would probably be if he was on a lower voltage line, which would not be able to hold such a weight. These lines, as in the video can't just snap, unless the weight load placed on them is at least a tonne...

    There's no chance those cables will snap. Firstly, they are a large diameter of heavy duty steel which hold their own weight of about a tonne between the pylons. Secondly, they are firmly secured with heavy duty crimps, bolts and clamps on the insulators. It's completely safe!
