  • 30 - 40 hours of footage? That's REALLY excessive and there really is no reason to just leave the camera running because tape is cheap. A 10:1 ratio is much more usual for indie films (and will make your edit easier).

  • When I first started film making I had no idea how much footage went into it. With 12 hours of quality footage we got a half hour movie. So 40 hours for an hour and half sounds about right.
