The first test of my PVC ROV. The stock tank really isn't big enough but its enough to get the idea. The thrusters are converted bilge pump motors, and are controlled over CAT 5 cable with an on board relay system.

Next test will be at a lake, I'm going to have to wait until I can afford a portable TV monitor before I can take it diving. Right now the only way I can use the on board camera is to run the tether into my house and plug it into my TV.

  • How long is the umbilical on that?

  • @KingOfTheClutch

50 feet for now, this spring I plan to double that.

  • Look for the ROV building group on yahoo. I have one in the works as well. Except for the lights, everything on my ROV will be in a single 4" PVC pipe. Nice video.

  • @JSF747 I have something similar planned for the next one, this first machine I'm viewing as an experiment so I designed it with a more open framework so it would be easier to figure out buoyancy and thruster placement.
