Smoke from inefficient cook stoves is the cause of indoor air pollution leading to death of about 1.6 million people (mostly women and children) every year. Also a reason for lost livelihoods and time, burden of collecting fuel wood, degradation of lands and disappearacne of forests, global warming due to CO2 emissions and brown haze.
