On the subject of birds of fire . If anyone wants to hear great live version of the song birds of fire by the original Mahavishnu Orchestra , go to JAZZFUSIONTV (thats JAZZFUSION(dot)TV) click on AUDIO BOOTLEGS , lots of Mahavishnu concerts . The MAHAVISHNU 1973 TORONTO CONCERT opens with great version of Birds of fire.

Good ol' DreiSat, got to be in the top 5 of Euro TV channels for content.
I saw Jerry Goodman in The Flock at Shepton Mallet 1970. Lived up to its name. Best sound system I ever experienced, and what a line-up! Canned Heat, Dr John the Night Tripper, Collosseum (in their post-"Lifetime" style), Mothers of Invention, Pink Floyd (with a score or more of the Royal Philharmonic on stage with them), Steppenwolf, Donovan, a Jefferson Starship spinoff with many of Starship's members.

@hansjoergajja -I lived in Germany in 72 but unfortunately never got the chance to see these guys.I first heard them in Europe and remember the sound initially making uncomfortable.The sound was so new and strange that it struck me as being almost "Satanic". I know pathetic,but I was like 14 at the time.Anyway within a short period I gained a strong appreciation for what has to be history's greatest "Fusion" band for lack of a better term.

And if you go to Wolfgangsvault website there are 26 Mahavishnu concerts from 1973 there . Not bootleggs but proper recordings . You can stream them for free , but you have to register and get password.
