a typical rubber band is 3.8cm in diameter and can be shot 5m46cm. Therefore, a rubber band 10m in diameter should be able to fly 1437 meters, or almost a mile. Right? Japanese scientists study the issue. Somebody should REALLY show this video to Dave Barry.

  • chineese arsholes hehehehe

  • @legoman12319 I hope you are not supposing yourself superior simply because you can't tell the difference between Chinese and Japanese.

  • why are there so many useless "world records"??

    it's starting to get annoying

  • @vinkie35 Let's see who can set the world record for the most annoying world record!

  • I am the Guinness World Record holder for shooting a rubber band the longest distance - 99 feet! And I did it without any external assistance - just me and the rubber band. 2001 Guinness World Record Book, page 20.

  • Good for you! Do you have a video you can share with us?

    thanks.

  • The volume of a structure increases with the cube of its linear dimensions whereas its surface area increases with the square of its linear dimension. You know, it's why we don't have giant ants. Those "wacky japs" know, and they know when to conveniently ignore it for the purpose of comedy.

  • think it didnt get pulled back far enogh to go that far they could of pulled it back much further.

  • Well no wonder it didn't go far, the thing was hardly stretched to its maximum. I could still see slack on it.

  • they needed to stretch it further

  • you forgot to take the weight away from the original calculation. if it weighed the same as a normal rubber band, then yes it would fly as far as you predicted.

  • They didnt pull it back far enough!

  • Wow, sounded like it broke Mach one :P Nice try, but aerodynamics aren't linear ^_^

  • @dman1299 you saved me 3 minutes and 25 seconds of my life, and therefore, i thank you

  • just skip to 3:25
