Joy Division liked the Clash and very likely was at this gig.

strummer was a great frontman wasnt quite the same with a guitar round his neck where wud u see a band this good today green day not

yeah, he had that more aggressive telecasterless Strummer, gave him the freedom to move just as much as he liked, then the telecaster Strummer, who had the BALLS of rhythm guitar, that raw, strumming sound!
None the less, he was and is the greatest rock n' roll frontman ever, he was so true!

I think john squire was at this gig maybe, or even Ian curtis and morrissey or was it the sex pistols gig?

That was the sEx PiStOlS at the lesser free trade hall.If everyone who said they went,went,then the pistols would have played to about 100,000 that night.i've met a few that said they went.
