Meet Bill Whitten of Yarmouth, a former college football player and U.S. Marine. Bill has two daughters -- one gay and one straight. For Bill, it's simple -- he wants both his girls treated fairly and equally, and that includes marrying the person they love.

  • He is right... I am a republican catholic who used to think that the only way God would love me would be to keep marriage between a man and a woman... I was wrong... its hard to say that, but the more I talked to people and studied and prayed about it, the more I thought... its just wrong not to allow legal rights to these people. I am proud to live in a country getting back to its roots of freedom and liberty for all... now we just have to wait for taxes and free market principles to go back.

  • If we called it garriage then the yesonquestion1'ers would still find a way to not make it equal.

love is love...it's as simple as that.

  • I'd like to marry Bill Whitten. He's totally hot!

  • yet its ok for you pro communists to bully gays?

  • the pledge of allegiance to the flag isn't true yet

    liberty and justice for all

  • I am supportive of full civil equality for gay partners, but always believed marriage was reserved for between a man and a woman. However my problem is I agree with the views of the pro gay marriage forces on most other issues, and believe the right wing extremists are truly a negative and evil force in this country. Guess I'll have to keep working on it. If I had a gay child, I'm sure that would influence my thinking. Good luck Maine on making the right choice for Maine.

  • Uhm...according to Merriam Webster: "a blustering browbeating person; especially : one habitually cruel to others who are weaker"

Bullies, by definition, are ones with power, with access, who hold all the cards and who don't share. Who engender fear and hate to maintain their status as bully.

People are seeking equal access to marriage. Others who already have access are restricting access to marriage to only themselves. Really - who's the bully?

  • Source, please

  • Massachusetts has had marriage equality for 5 years and they remain the state with the lowest divorce rate. Do you want us to start sourcing our facts? We will. Meanwhile...how about a source or two from you? Demonstrate to us, somewhere outside of your own mind...a journal article, a research study, government census facts, something....to illustrate just how extending access to legal marriage to all consenting adults will lead to suffering, divorce, and single parenting.

  • How in heavens name is providing marriage equality and equal access equivalent to currently married couples being "cheated by the state"???? People who chose to follow the example of others rather than rationalize things out for themselves are the ones who enjoy taking catch phrases like "redefining marriage" and run with the idea. Marriage is not being redefined. Marriage is still marriage. These laws and court rulings are just about providing access to marriage that has been denied to some
