"The Songs of Distant Earth" is a 1994-1995 music album from Mike Oldfield. It has been inspired from the Arthur. C. Clarke's book of the same title.
Some version from the album contain an additional interactive multimedia track. To be visualize, it requires Quicktime and a Macintosh with an old OS version (7, 8, 9 or Classic Mode in MacOS X).
While composing the album, Mike also wanted to create pictures and movies representing the world he was imaging. So, he created this interactive track to share his world with others. This is the precursor of MusicVR used later for "Tres Lunas" and "Maestro".
Here is a walkthrough in this world of science-fiction imagined by Arthur C. Clarke and Mike Oldfield. Enjoy!
