  • I don't understand how you can compare Mario Lanza with Roberto Alagna- Pavarotti I guess I can understand as he was excellent in his prime. But Alagna is shouty, abuses his voice and is all around not a great tenor.

  • I really like his Neapolitan songs.

  • I have to say I prefer Lanza to all the other tenors. While Pavarotti, for example, may have a powerful, terrific voice, it sounds like he has to force it too much, whereas Lanza's seems to come out with a natural skill and ease which makes every song he sings (dramatic, romantic, etc.) sound that much more genuine.

  • You have gravel in your ears, VictorAWineGuy, or the potent potable has gotten you. Lanza was no amateur and studied extensively under Rosatti and I think also Spadoni. He was sought by all opera houses and favorably influenced virtually all operatic tenors who followed. Pav's voice is reed thin in comparison. Giuseppe was brilliant, and if you love him, no quarrel. But Mario's my man, as his voice was an unmatched combination of beauty and power.

  • Remove the SHIT from your ears and listen! Giuseppe Di Stefano was the ultimate, Lanza like Bocelli was an amateur. Watch the video "Tosca" where the greatest Sopranos discuss their careers and tenors. They as well as Pavarotti, say DiStefano was the ultimate.

  • Great song. Love MArio Lanza. Im looking to find an old italian song. As fars as i know it talks about a woman with 7 lovers or 7 fiances , not sure. It has a very distinct refrain that goes like ...dram draram dram dram..drdrim drin drin...or something in tose merits lol. I think it must be sicilian or napolitano. Anyone has an idea?

  • the greatest ever ,his voice was so passionate that you can feel thru your whole soul that in my opinion no tenor has come close to

  • He is the best tenor!
