  • No problem. I also forgot everything when it came time for mine to give birth! It was our first time with animal birthing, so I felt like I was on a high. I forgot that I had our kidding bucket ready, and grabbed a bunch of towels from the bathroom. And though the mess wasn't disposable, I like how the large towels wrap around the baby and clean them up well.

  • Ironically for us the 2 births birth that went best was the ones we were not around for. We had two cow births and the one we were there for the calf was breech and it was a hard birth. The other cow birth was in the night and we came out the heifer was already licked clean the placenta gone. For these goat births Iris birthed her kids when we were gone and that was by far the best birth. It seems to us that nature works best when there is the least intervention.

  • A tip someone gave me: get some paper feed bags to put underneath doe so kid lands on clean absorbant material.

  • Thank you for the idea. My wife actually read about paper bags and we had saved a variety of them and bought 4 rolls of paper towels but as it turned out we didn't get to use much of what we prepared. We had originally planed to bring the goats in the milking barn as well.

  • @88mestari88 Well, it turns out that when you are born a woman, you are born with the ability to ride that wave and give birth! See - it all works out! Leslie

  • Very cool, thanks for sharing! You are lucky, I've only ever seen cats, dogs, and one human give birth in real life. The cats and dogs were cool, but the human freaked me out a little, lol!

  • if you need advice, e-mail me on here.

  • i just use clean shavings.. i generally let my does kid in a stall.. but i take all the babies and bottle feed.

  • its hard to believe that's a goat. it looks like a little naked dog :) I have an 8 month old nigerian dwarf doeling, nigerian dwarfs are the best!
