Part 16 - Chapter 1, Stanza 8. http://www.crystalclarity.com/product.php?code=BEBPB The Essence of the Bhagavad Gita Explained by Paramhansa Yogananda as remembered by his disciple, Swami Kriyananda. This book shares the profound insights of Paramhansa Yogananda, author of Autobiography of a Yogi, as remembered by one of his few remaining direct disciples, Swami Kriyananda.

This revelation of India's best-loved scripture approaches it from an entirely fresh perspective, showing its deep allegorical meaning and also its down-to-earth practicality. The themes presented are universal: how to achieve victory in life in union with the divine; how to prepare for life's "final exam," death, and what happens afterward; how to triumph over all pain and suffering.

Swami Kriyananda worked with Paramhansa Yogananda in 1950 while the Master completed his commentary of the Bhagavad Gita. At that time Yogananda commissioned him to disseminate his teachings world-wide. Kriyananda has in his lifetime lectured, taught, and written over one hundred books based on Yogananda's teachings.

The Essence of the Bhagavad Gita is available from Crystal Clarity Publishers.

  • I have fallen in love with your explanations of the revered Bhagawad Gita, Swami, as I try more and more each breath to confront my negativity every sec and try to evolve the finer qualities in me.

..i need your blessings because every now and then I slip and fall back hard, it feels like m trying to go up a deep dark well, again and again, round and round. This leaves me with even bitter pain as I try to climb back again bit by bit feeling dark and in misery.

    Love and greetings from India.

  • Once again, exactly the teaching I needed at this moment. Thank you.

  • Right on!

  • The theme here seems to be processes of mental identification. If one is identified with the body, one will also be identified with all its desires and dissatisfactions. On the other hand, if one can truly identify with Atman, one will be also identified with transcendence and bliss.

  • I almost can't believe that such deep wisdom is on YouTube!

The poem that Swami Kriyananda mentions begins:

My mind to me a kingdom is; Such present joys therein I find,

That it excels all other bliss That earth affords or grows by kind:

Though much I want that most would have,

Yet still my mind forbids to crave.
