Why do they use more Genesis type diesels and bi-level coaches instead of single level coaches?

outside of the east bi-level superliners are mostly used, there are different reasons for this, but amtrak seems to prefer to use bilevels whenever possible...and the use genisis locomotive because that is the main locomotive of amtrak

Unfortunately, the state of Texas is larger than most European countries. Building all of these high speed rail lines across the USA will be very expensive compared to Europe. The Acela trains running from Boston to DC run further than all of the high speed trains in Europe on one line, although there are much more high speed rail mileage in Europe. HIgh speed rail loses its speed time advantage to the airlines further than three hours. We might see a high speed train in a few areas though.

Trains on the east coast have a few tunnels which are too short for the bi-level Superliners. Otherwise all of Amtrak's trains would be bi-level.

@gaycowboy31 THANK YOU SIR FOR YOUR REPLY........Yes indeed, SOME people actually think that wanting high speed trains is UN-AMERICAN.......I have been told many times that these trains are no good for the United States......That just does not JIBE......These trains ARE the future ! Think of GASOLINE at 5 to 8 dollars per gallon my dear folks, and THINK REAL HARD because IT IS COMING......WISHING for cheap gas is OK, but not realistic....NEVER will we see cheap energy....Thanks again...

@sierracuban I agree with you just not sure how yet hell the gas prices are not far from there yet ....it will be interesting to see how California does and that figures down there in Flordia what a shame I have seen what highspeed electrification on a rail system looks like I have seen and rode it extensivlly in Europe and witnessd the birth of highspeed rail both in Russia and China haveing seen both while there Russia is one of the Largest countries with an Electrified rail network
