Geordie Wilson performs an original composition.

Racing pigeons and growing prize-winning leeks were, until very recently, traditional pastimes of working men in North East England. I even bred a couple of pigeons myself when I was a nipper, out back of my grandad's cottage at the end of Conhope Lane in Benwell. Right next to the allotments. I helped grow leeks in the same garden. Pigeons and leeks are still popular pastimes in the region, but nowhere near the heart of things these days.

The lowest form of life in this part of the world is not, as many believe, the blackleg. For all his sins, the blackleg may be trying to escape his own trials and tribulations. No, he is the second lowest form of life. The lowest form of life is the leek slasher. To enter somebody's allotment in the dead of night and slash his leeks with a razor, just before the leek show, is an act of sabotage tantamount to murder, and warrants the harshest retribution.

An' divvent get iz gannin' on aboot pigeon knobblers or I'll nevvor stop!
