@westonp80 ...didn't the beta cell at some point come from a stem cell? And maybe it more of an issue of "instructing" the stem cell derived beta cell to now be the sole progenitor or all subsequent beta cells?

Thank you so much for posting these videos, having taken devo close to 6 years ago, it's really cool to get a "refresher" from some one like D. Melton! Although, i wonder about the notion that it is a "problem" that beta-cells come from other beta cells, instead of stem cells. Even if this is the case is mature pancreas, I don't think it negates the possibility that science could still continue it's efforts to try and make beta cells from stem cells for treatment of diabetes.
