one thing to note though is that its important to differentiate between post workout muscle soreness; which is ok, and between acute pain from injury or nerves around the disks of the spine..if you notice severe pain, or pain at spine area, or pain that shoots down to legs, or pain that doesn't seem like muscle soreness but from nerves around spine,stop exercising and see a doctor and good chiropractor..I had bulging disks in back and now healed with chiropractory, physiotherapy and proper rest!

@6reevesy9 Also I don't think you're supposed to roll your shoulders. But yeah, that is pretty stupid holding dumbbells in front trying to make-believe they're a barbell.

pain will go over in a few weeks it's just your body getting accustomed to the exercise..
Improvement comes over the span of 6 months or a year.. be patient.. it will come..
make sure you eat good too..
heck i squat now for 6 months+ and i still feel pain the next morning..
