After watching the clip of the tefal quick cup http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAQXBQGkZ5c (noisy water warming machine) I bought a Kenwood JK450 clear energysense kettle instead. I have to say, you can fill it with a single cup and boil it (rather than heat) in about 30 seconds too, and it's not even that noisy.

In this clip I filled the empty kettle from the cold tap too rather than having it pre filled with old stale water like the tefal has.

Quck cup and other similar devices do not boil water. Only a kettle will boil water.

This gives you option to boil 1.7L of water or small amount of water and save energy.

was the kettle already hot? It probably uses more energy and its a real pain to pick it up and fill it up every cup or pour out water that you dont want to boil for one cup..

i have this kettle and use it to make one cup and its quick. pretty quick boiling full kettle too and its easy to see how much you really want to boil thanks to clear plastic construction. saving energy
