  • this is a stranglers song from the aural sculpture album great album great band.

  • "Let Me Down Easy" is 80s easy-listening most beautiful non-mainstream pop song... although this is not their best version (and even Hugh is lowsounding)

but thank you this song always save my day!

  • been a fan for 34 years, been to many many gigs, but i have to say when they intoduced this brass section it was just the worst decision. i guess it was experimental but it SERIOUSLY DIDNT WORK. it was just awful, in fact painful to watch and listen to , it detracted from the quintessential stranglers sound, which was a shame as they wrote some pretty good stuff in this era.

  • the dullest single they ever released?!

  • i dont care if people think stranglers became too pop or mainstream. they never did. their 80s stuff is genius and pure art. i could listen to it for ever

  • people put down the later Stranglers mellow sound but there is no doubt this is a beautiful song. They could and did do everything from the most agressive to the most dreamy!

  • 10/10 f**king fantastic band

  • @AtticusStount

Alex Gifford soon to be of The Propellerheads.

He wasn't on Aural Sculpture but played live with the band. His colaboration goes back to The Purple Helmets.

The brass and backing vox sections on Aural Sculpture were the same as Paul Young's album "Wherever I lay My Hat" produced by the same guy Laurie Latham. Listen to it cos it's aurally similar.

  • Yeah me and my pal crud make the pilgrimage to see the MIB or Hugh whenever and wherever they are playing in Scotland..saw hugh a few weeks ago in Glasgow doing Rattus and Hooverdam which was immense. Also just found out the Stranglers are coming up to Aberdeen earlyish next year, and Hugh also around May..Always love having that to look forward to...Keep the faith mate

  • Was the saxophonist part of the live band at the time?

  • they are still fantastic ive seen them 37 times and im seeing Hugh next week manchester academy 12th time solo and stranglers 2010

  • I would love to think your right...I worshipped the ground they walked on ..but i cant agree with you.
