My girlfriend cheated on me and left me feeling like this...

What edit? Are you talking about the Dance?

Stevie's songs tended to go long. Her songs could run 5-6 minutes when you only had so much room on an album. The edit on the '97 version was terrific.

Thank you it's my favorite version. If only it was better audio quality

This version contains anger implied in the lyrics that is not heard on the highly polished single version. As written, Silver Springs has a versatility in the sense that it can literally be "read" in disparate ways. When blended with McVies' and Buckingham's harmonies and a distinctly reflective ambiance, (as on the single) it's message becomes wistful. I think this song is a clear example of Ms. Nicks' unique lyrical skill reflected as good art. Thank you for posting it.

Where did you acquire this version? Or if you tell me, will you have to kill me?

Awesome! Thanks for posting

Just spellbinding.......there will never be another Stevie Nicks.
ahh, I have heard this before. If I am nt mistaken, this is the versioin used for the B side of the 45 produced for jukeboxes in the very late 70's.
I searched for this for about 10 years before learning that it was the b side of that single. In 87-88, I found a copy of the singel… for 85$.
So, thanks for posting.
@theFryguy, just read your post. the 45 contained that line… maybe that's where you heard it?

@casacooper No... this is unreleased... The B-Side is 4:30ish in length and has backing vocals and the lyrics "I'll follow you down 'til the sound of my voice will haunt you... You'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you"
I found a 12" 45RPM single for Go Your Own Way with the B-Side Silver Springs for $4.99 at a record shop in Winston-Salem, NC... look around before spending that much.. unless it's the 7" single of Go Your Own Way in mint condition unopened lol

They always talk about how they threw a bunch of the tapes out during the Rumours recording sessions and kept only certain elements of the songs and started over again..... probably dumpster divers got a hold of this particular tape... who knows....

i bought a demo album around 1980 or so. the fleetwood mac almanac. the orignal version of silver springs is on it. it was not this version. this sounds more like a studio demo to me.i miss the underground record stores i went to back then.i was as addicted to fleetwood mac then as i am now.

@1hardwired1 Almanac was a fan made demo set compiled of various demos and outtakes from the late 70s... They put live audience cheers at the end of songs to make some sound live... the demo of Storms on there is actually multi recordings of the song put together to sound like one long demo. The version of Silver Springs on Almanac is the 45RPM version from the Go Your Own Way single...

@JeremyRemixes Actually it has it listed as the Piano Demo on a website I just checked... I remember it being the 45 version.. anyways..if it's the piano one then it is the first recording of the song and it does have the "I'll follow you down...etc" lyrics.. not sure why it isn't on this version but this is the first band demo of the song more than likely.. the finalized band version appears on the single of GYOW and on FM's box set, the re-issue of Rumours and Stevie's Crystal Visions
