I think so. Like KVNCTTN said; Sandy as the one who brainstormed Dolly's reinvention. He's spoken of quite highly in her autobiography.
They did travel quite a bit, from what I remember reading.
There's a story in her autobio about her and Sandy on a private yacht off the coast of Australia during a tropical storm.
She said "Well, if this don't beat all. Here I am, a woman from East Tennessee about to die with a gay man from New York, in a boat off the coast of Australia."
What a trooper.

Dolly's my idol! I love her!

It's times like these I wish I could find the citation needed to backup my earlier comment.
But as I cannot, I stand corrected.

Interesting thanks for this info

Sandy is NOT dead, he is successfully flipping house in the real estate market in California since he quit managing the "stars" in 1998. ....now, Tony Chase died of AIDS years ago, he used to design Dolly's gowns most well known in the 80's TV Dolly series and at all Dollywood functions. There are very recent articles of current day - going on's - in Sandy Gallin's life posted right here on the internet.

He's dead. Walt Disney is still in film credits, ain't he?
Dolly made huge donations to AIDS charities and, I believe, founded one in Sandy's honour.
Didn't Sandollar do a documentary on The AIDS Quilt?
-
I am not sure if he died bcuas he is still listed as part owner of Sandollar production.

Mac really helped Dolly to become the superstar she is. He suggested Sandy Gallin, Dolly's manager, who orchestrated the whole Dolly transformation in the late 70's. So thanks to Mac Davis!
