Eric Burdon & Brian Auger Band - House of the Rising Sun 1992

Released 1964 by 'The Animals' with Eric Burdon as Lead Vocal

There is a house way down in New Orleans, Louisiana
They call the Rising Sun, yeh yeh yeh ...
And it's been a ruin, been a ruin, been a ruin, been a ruin
of many, many a poor boy, yeh yeh yeh in me
I know, I know, I know, I know I'm one

My mother was a tailor
She sewed so my new bluejeans, yeh yeh
My father was a gamblin' man
Way down, way down, way down, way down in New Orleans

I'm goin' back, I'm always goin' back
to where, to where my reds have begun, yeh yeh yeh yeh
I'm going back to win my life
To wear that ball and chain

There is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun, yeh yeh yeh
It's been the ruin of many a poor boy
In dream yeh will I know, I know, I know
I know, I know, I know, I know
I'm one
oh Lord forgive me
of all my ... yeh yeh yeh

  • I like it....Since when does a singer or band have to sing exactly the same way..time after time... 10,20,30,40 years?? Voices and style change. It's also obvious that they are having a good time. That's all that should matter.

  • I cant beleive what I'm hearing. That was brilliant in my opinion, I'm a massive eric burdon fan and so far this probably my favorite live performance of the song. And as for you williehackit, u should be shot. He's made his mark on the music world and has nothing left to prove. I can see how people dont like the changes but you've gota realise eric has a very bluesy style and the blues was created by improv. N thats wat hes doin here.

  • I don't care what does other say, I like it very much. There were versions I didn't like from Burdon, but it's very good in my opinion. Why is that matters if he doesn't sing it like 40 years ago?

  • @LynnCaldwell1954 yea thats actually my dad, still have his axe on my wall to this day

  • צביקה פיק?

  • john lenon?

  • The greatest blues singer and the greatest jazz organist in ROCK history together - AWESOME!!!

  • @zimmiesgirl Hilton was back with Burdon in '08. I saw that lineup of "Eric Burdon and the Animals" and it was a great show. Unfortunately it looks like Hilton's out of Eric's band (again, haha) now.
