The fifth of a weekly series of videos following the RAF Regiment on the frontline in Basra -- Snipers in Action. See the snipers of II Squadron fly into action -- literally. To prevent the enemy from planting deadly IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices) around the base, snipers must take to the air to investigate. It takes more than a steady hand to shoot accurately from a moving aircraft -- that's why they're known as the best of the best. www.rafcareers.com/frontline

  • @skygod1975 When you say 'ex Para/Raf Regt' do you mean like your ex II sqn, or you were both an army para and Raf reg? If thats the case, then i'm thinking about either of those. Deffinetly will choose one of them. I know all about them, but which would you say is better. If you've got experience with both?

  • @jikkee They can be used to fight as well, anytime, anywhere. Like with SFSG.

  • @jadlad Yes, every sqn has its tour of duty independently, think of it like a rotor, so if IIsqn are in afgan, 1 sqn will be back at honnington, they can expect to go to the same place every year but recently the number of tours in afgan has increased for obv reasons. if ur not out their u can expect to be in the falklands, northen ireland etc.

hope it helped, all the best.

  • @jadlad their there quite often mate, usually based in kandahar or bastion, you'l most probably be patrolling around the bases.

  • My career plan is to join the RAF as a pilot or my second path is to join the RAF Regement to then hopefully one day be given the oppertunity to become a Sniper. And i must say, ''Best of the Best'' is the best way to desribe them, shooting accurately from a moving aircraft... that must take some serious skill.

  • People need to have some fucking respect for these lads, sort your heads out and go back to your job at tesco. quick question to any lads in the regiment, do most regiment gunners go to iraq or afghanistan, i never expected them to be there so much, strangely

  • chill royal ya dont need to be spinnin dits on here mate leave it to the kids who have nuthin better to do. all respect mate :)

  • yeah i agree.

  • u have no fucking respect to anyone so shut the hell up

  • lol yer im in 1344 sqn atc (CARDIFF). went on an acf camp and half the army cadets were a bunch of yobs, though alot of them were safe
