"Second Battle"
Michael Ferschke, Jr. served honorably in the Marines and gave his life for our country. His widow, Hota, now faces a new battle to live in the U.S. even though she is trying to honor Michael's wish to raise their son in his hometown. Unfortunately, Hota's story is not unique. Army Spc. Jack Barrios returned home still coping with emotional trauma from Iraq to discover that his wife, Francis, is facing deportation. "Second Battle" is the tragic story of two spouses fighting to stay in the U.S. and how their husband's honorable military service has no impact on our nation's inflexible immigration laws.

  • I blame all the extremist anti-immigrant groups like the minutemen. They are the ones that push for these kinds of injustices against our people.

  • this story is so sad when a couple living in san clemente california have become us citizen trhough a sham marriage. even they open a business there.

  • it saddens me how the system is so corrupted. What are the "American" afraid of? Losing their jobs to hard working immigrants once allowed to work legally? Afraid of immigrants reaching to the top and taking advantage of things like EDUCATION that many "Americans" take for granted?

Most of the current immigration laws make no sense. It is underlined with prejudice and malice.

Please start caring about families as that's all we have when there is no one else to turn to.

  • the government knows no life without a family and l don't know they still try to separate people , America is a immigrant country, that make this country so strong, powerfully, what they have to know immigrants are a part for economic of america.

  • This makes me so mad and its obvious that Immigration is the most important issue. We cannot fix the economy and move on with healthcare until we fix the immigration issue.

  • Remember minoritys traditionally vote Democratic so the GOP likes to use "Immigration" as a wedge issue to rally up there ugly racist voters base. Trust me though...they really need friends these days. Not only have they lost almost all minoritys they are also losing the wealthy ones too!! Anyone with half a brain is on to their game. Recently we have seen the DHS lighten up on Immigrants and detention. Unfortuately we are moving forward in baby steps to get results. We must continue to fight!!

  • By the way juceme67 this is not new that Immigrants have been treated badly in this country. This country has a habit of exploiting them for "cheap labor" and then trying to keep them in an "underground status" to continue there BS. I am US borned and disgusted with the behavior that I see and the ignorance of some people out there. Just remember not all American citizens are ignorant. There are many fighting for your rights our there. You sure are right when you say we have to get United!!!

  • My great grandfather came from Italy and my father fought in world war II and we both believe that we are a proud nation of Immigrants. Whenever I here people scapegoat there problems and blame them on the "undocumented" in this country it sickens me. Everyday I fight for the rights of Immigrants and I hope soon we will see a reformed Immigration system that gives us all hope. Our system has torn apart familys and riped friends and loves ones apart. When will the madness end!!!!

  • Immigrants we have to get united so it cannot happen to anyone no more. they use and then after they want to thrown us out. This is the way this country have succeded using the immigrant people and no rewarding them. After they have fought for them. this is an abuse of the dignity of a human being

  • I honestly can say that it is really F**k up that someone would send an immigrant soldier and promise him that when he gets back his/her family will be okay. But what happens, the promise is lost, they got to their house and arrest his family. Why fight for a country that treats your family like criminals. But one day, I will make sure that everything changes. One day you people will know who I am. And for that discrimination going around. I will make sure to shut your mouth.
