Jason, hope in a world of illusion as described by the German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer in his influential work 'The World as Will and Representation' is worth to be discussed in more detail. I come to the conclusion that not only hope is questionable in our world but power and representation as well, especially if you consider how much power corrupts. A very important question in this context is how we can avoid that social elites become corrupted and turn evil in human societies.
