  • i used to drive for E&J Meeks and was sent there to pick up a load of cobbles..it was half three and i moaned manager that i'd got a hot date that evening so needed to be done earlyish "you'll be in and out in 10 minutes lad"....off i went seeing as it's only 10 minutes from the yard to linby weighed in no queue (yay)backs under chute....presses the button ..."DUNK"......."DUNK"...."DUNK"lying bastard....it was half past fukkin' midnight before i weighed off....and i got dumped by becky taylor

  • That was the way with cobbles, now if it had been slack or singles the whole course of your history would probably have been different. Who do you think was the luckiest, you or Becky Taylor?

  • Just remembered it cost 6 pence for a drink from the drinks machine. That was in early/mid 80s.

  • Strange how things bring back memories. I had my first ever corned beef and onion sandwich in that canteen, loved 'em ever since.
