Stephen Foster composed this lovely duet, based on ACT III, Scene V of Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet," in 1851. It is here sung in a typical American parlor by The Old Man in the Woods and Vera Harrendedge as it might have been sung by ordinary folks in the 1850s.
