Available on iTunes (search for The Thinking Atheist under podcasts), and on BlogTalkRadio at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/thethinkingatheist/2012/01/11/the-clergy-project

We talk with Dan Barker, President of the Freedom From Religion Foundation, who is part of an exciting website called The Clergy Project

The Clergy Project is a confidential safe haven for active and former clergy who do not hold the supernatural beliefs of their religious traditions. It's amazing how many pastors and ministers have left their faith or seek to do so.

We also speak with an atheist still in the pastorate (speaking anonymously), and with Jerry DeWitt of www.recoveringfromreligion.org

  • I love how when Seth has a caller he just shuts up and listens unlike some other shows out there. I love the Atheist Experience but I find they interrupt the caller too much. Seth is just so respectful towards the callers. The best example in my opinion is the Grief Without God episode.

  • @FayraStudios You believe that a perfect God wrote an imperfect book that supports genocide, sexism, racism, homophobia and slavery. It's in the Bible don't deny it. And if the universe requires a creator then so does God because if God doesn't need a creator the same logic applies to the universe. And I can't change your delusions so why would I try?

You call a rational human being a lesser life-form for some reason and then you accuse me of ridiculing someone who believes in talking snakes.

  • This is so sad. I feel bad for Elise. I'm sure there are so many atheists who have to deal with the emotional ramifications of their family members knowing they are atheists. People can be so hurtful even towards those they are supposed to love.

  • Fantastic! A mormon ad to preface this podcast; "I believe that [a leprechaun] did something for me." -Pastor

  • lol your ads are "...and I'm a mormon" ads.

  • @FayraStudios "oh don't you dare blame religion for these sins" its in the bible , be honest to yourself, seek the truth and read the old testament. If god doesnt order all the atrocities mentioned by all us athiests then you have a valid point, however if god in the old testament does order all these horrific acts then you have no arguement to stand on.

  • @nn101198 oh don't you dare blame religion for these sins and you are just a typical atheist who makes fun of his opponent to prove his point and no God does not require a creator he is creation itself he is existence itself. and not you or any of your other fellow lesser human form atheists are in any sort of position to change that now good bye *you don't deserve a sir!*

  • @FayraStudios You think that you're sane so you believe in a magic sky fairy?

And you support deism, an understandable position. Not theism. That's stupidity.

Slavery, homophobia, sexism and racism were around for thousands of years, that is not an argument in favor of them. Islam and Christianity were both around for thousands of years and have the same amount of evidence for each other.

And I don't know how the universe was created. But God requires a creator anyway so it solves nothing.

  • @nn101198 you people think your logical while your the ones who are delusional, religion have been around for thousands of years and is too real for you to deny.

we are completely sane human beings who have reached a point of realization which is that we just couldn't exist on our own we cannot exist on our own so there must have been a higher level being a god that created everything around us. you actually think the entire universe was created from a single atoms explosion?

  • @FayraStudios Why are we not the same species? Unless you feel like you belong to ahumanoid specis, homo ignoramus, who function with logical reasoning capabilities.

And to believe in a Santa Claus-esque figure cannot be compatible with sanity and knowledge.
