I am "old and in the way"! I first heard of them just before I married my second wife. I am not big on Bluegrass but, her mom played fiddle with some famous people, so we went to a bunch of festivals for free. I learned to love Peter Rowan and we saw him more than a few times. Absolutely incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even played a bunch of his stuff at the wedding too!

I'm from Grantsville, WV which is 'round the mountains from Stumptown. Unfortunately, Aunt Minnie's Farm was before my time and I missed all of its greatness but I've heard tell of many good times. Someday I'd like to resurrect its wonder. Good stuff!

I grew up around bluegrass. My parents have been involved in the scene for over 30 years...I'll be 30 very soon myself. Tony Rice, Ralph Stanley, Jim and Jesse, Lost and Found, New Grass Revival with Bela Fleck and Sam Bush...it wasn't till the age of 6 that I discovered the Grateful Dead...who quickly became my favorite band..Jerry was like a god to me...then my parents let me hear the debut album from Old and In The Way. It blew me away...it just blew me away. Dawg is still one of my faves. :)

Clifton - I will buy you a ticket up to Alaska this summer if you promise to go to a bluegrass festival proper with me! Nobody should ever live their whole life not experiencing that!

When I was in high school in the late 70s bluegrass festivals were all the rage here in West Virginia, Minnie's Farm, Ronceverte, Stumptown, etc. Never went to one myself, but oh, the stories they used to bring back from them!
