The people of the Burnett wholeheartedly rejected forced Local Government Amalgamations at the Red Friday Protest March in Gayndah.

  • Some of those giving speeches were local politicians. Go figure! They don't want to lose their cushy taxpayer-funded jobs!

  • Dridaho I am starting to suspect that you are affiliated with the Qld Labour Party. Being a councilor in a small rural shire is neither lucrative or cushy. It would be interesting to know whether you have even taken any time to understand this issue, before commenting on an important subject. If I find these comments on other anti amalgamation videos I will be certainly investigating whether you are paid by QLD Labour Party

  • Only 297 hits on the video. Some backlash (actually that is no backlash at all!). Hence most Queenslanders did not oppose the reduction in politicians.

  • Hahaha!

    You are over-reacting. I've never thought I'm a god.

    I'll say this again:

Local politics exist because of State Government legislation NOT the State Constitution. Hence all local politicians work for the State's Local Government Minister (in theory at least).

  • Yes, I have no idea why Dridaho thinks that he is god and can keep on slamming the people of a shire who simply want to remain independent.

  • "do you live in a rural community tornpages?"

    Western Rural Queensland remains unchanged.

  • Local politics exist because of State Government legislation not the State Constitution. Hence all local politicians work for the State's Local Government Minister (in theory at least).

After these changes come into action local politicians still need to be elected. So what's all the fuss?

  • do you live in a rural community tornpages? have you ever lived in a rural community? this is not about a few local government councillors trying to save jobs it is about the future of rural communities. i want my kids to have the same opportunities that I have had. the vast majority and I mean vast majority of rural queenslanders are vehemently opposed to forced amalgamtion. Something we will probably never get to demonstrate now the Beattie government has outlawed a referendum

  • Drldaho speaks the truth your local politicians are lying cause they are the ones that are power hungry, maybe they should get back to there jobs instead of trying to save there skins!
