Byggepladen attempted to build the worlds biggest mosaic using only LEGO bricks during LEGO World 2011 in Bella Congress center in Copenhagen. Thanks to the participants at the event we finished the 117,6 square meter big mosaic in time. This shows the four days of building.
It took 1792 LEGO baseplates with 32x32 studs and 460.288 2x2 studs plates to finish the mosaic. We had a range of 25-35 concurrent builders working 8 hours a day to complete this task! That means placing one finished base plate every minute for 32 hours!
The final mosaic is 14,83 x 7,93 meters or 117,6 square meters. Compare that to you house size ;-)
Byggepladen is a Danish LUG (LEGO User Group) for Danish Adult fans of LEGO - Byggepladen has existed for over 7 years and hold nearly 500 members.
Thanks to all the paticipants!
And special thanks to Tobias Reichling for the great work with converting the picture into a mosaic with his PicToBrick program!
