Here are a couple of clips of BR Britannia class, no "70013" "Oliver Cromwell" hauling "The Bristolian" on the 6th March 2010.
We start off at Botley, Hampshire. According to www.uksteam.info 70013 was schedueled to stop for 8 mins at Botley. But it unexpectedly hurtled through the station at about 50mph. (I worked out the speed because I was bored one afternoon).
So I decided to chase it to Salisbury where it was to make a water stop. It must of made its stop elsewhere because I somehow managed to beat it with 10mins to spare.

Then I took several clips of it at the station, trying my best to avoid the crowds of people. This was the best editing I could achieve taking into account just how many people were on the station.
Then its seen leaving for Bristol.
Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoyed it.

  • Excellent video! At 0.40 you can hear a child shouting "Oliver Cromwell" - that was my sone Lewis, he's only 4! (we were on the other platform!) I took some footage, but unfortunately with no sound. But I did get some excellent photos!

  • Haha, I hear him. Glad you like the video.

Unfortunately it'll be my last for a while.

    University deadlines are looming :-(

  • We saw it near Warminster and then on the return on Dilton Bank. All these clips tell the tale of the journey and if I was a passenger on the train what a great memento of the day it would be. Nice Videos you have made

  • thanks, im glad you've enjoyed them.

  • :0( That's not fair! There are two more due in Salisbury in April - on the 3rd and 6th - I'm not sure which engines at the moment, they keep changing! Oh and I have you on film, filming this! lol!

    Good luck with uni! x

  • Thanks very much. My works slowly getting better :-)

I'm trying to get some inspiration for an original intro for my work. I saw one with the top gear tune, it looked soo tacky lol.

  • This happened before on the 13th April - everyone at Hedge End got caught out then as well!!

I forgot to mention that I love the pan at Botley - really good work!!

  • Oh dear, thats a rotten bit of luck!

It came through Botley dead on time at 9.57am. If it had actually stopped for its allocated time then you would of seen it.

No idea why it didn't. There were lots of people at Salisbury grumbling that it was early!

  • Great video Andy!! I planned to see 70013 at Hedge End in the morning, however, she roared through 15 minutes early, just as I was pulling into the car park!
