Fort Payne, Alabama, was hard hit by the passage of CAFTA, which resulted in over 100 sock mills shutting down. Were CAFTA to be repealed and imports taxed properly again, people would once more open factories in the United States, which would help the health care crisis right itself, as people would have JOBS and be able to buy insurance. BTW, lest you forget, CAFTA was not signed into law by President Obama. 1,000 people a week now are dying because of lack of health care due to lack of insurance and funds

you are an idiot people are not dying at a rate 0f 100 a week, and for 1 the sock mills brought tens of thousands of illegal mexicans that dont speak english and are over populating our town, the only thing the sock mills did for our town is boost our economy, and by the way the only ones who dont have ensurance are the illegal aliens, you are probally the biggest idiot i have seen on here

CAFTA enticed the sock mills to relocate overseas because of the tax breaks offered, and it was cheaper to make the product in countries with lax labor and environmental laws. This is the reason that thousands of jobs were outsourced. Who's renting all those empty mill buildings? Other than the Volkswagon place, what industry is up and running? Know anyone who has lost jobs, cars, homes...? I do. People who USED to work at the over 100 mills that closed.
