Sable SF: German Shepherd available for adoption

Sable SF is a very young acting approximately 4-5 year old, 68 pound, female German Shepherd with puppy looking ears. Sable doesnt appear to have had much training but loves treats and learns fast.

Sable is house broken but not crate trained. She stays off furniture. She will sleep through the night on a dog bed or in a crate in a bedroom with the door to the room blocked, but she tends to panic if you try to lock her in the crate. However, she rides well in a car closed in her crate. Sable is doing well with her leash training, but would like more practice in her new home. She may make a good jogging partner as she likes to run. She knows sit and wait but still takes treats way too quickly.

Sable is people friendly and would like a home where her owners can continue with her socialization and can devote time and attention to her. The ideal home for Sable would not have cats or small children due to her apparent prey drive and short bursts of high energy. She is doing well interacting with other big dogs that are not overly dominant and will just hang out with them. However, she can also be a little pushy with other dogs so she will do best with dogs that can deal with that calmly and with an environment that will provide good supervision in case playtime gets a little out of control.

Sable is confident, social, friendly, and affectionate. She takes a little time settling in to new situations and can be noisy if left alone in a new place. However, once she is familiar with her surroundings she will relax and quietly settle down. She is now comfortable when left in an outside kennel for as much as 8 hours.

Sable is a level 2 dog who is living at a foster home on the Peninsula.
